PayPal to QuickBooks Online

Hi there

I am trying to make a PayPal multi-currency transaction export into separate files and possibly even get the fees split out. Attached is a short example file.
The first problem I have is that it doesn't seem to recognize the quotation marks around the fields even if I set it to in my current version 4.1.5 64bit.
Then I somehow need to separate on the "Currency" field "CAD" and "USD" into separate files since they are different accounts with different currencies in QuickBooks.
And if it even could split out the "Fee" on some transactions into its own line with the "Name" "PayPal", that would be amazing. Can FlowHeater do that?
I really only need the date, name and gross fields. I know how to set their export formatting in the TextFile adapter in the output for QBO , but the stuff to get the proper values into each of the two files ...

Hi Mark,

To handle quotations marks you just have to define the right one on the “delimiter” tab at the READ TextFile Adapter , see screenshot below.

To split an export into two or more several files you could use FlowHeater Parameters for the WRITE file name. e.G. paypal_$CURRENCY$.txt
In this case you have to set one parameter with the Set Parameter Heater and use the parameter $CURRENCY$ as part of the WRITE file name. This parameter will be automatically change with the current value during the processing.

NOTE: With the current version 4.1.5 you have to use the option “Append to file” and manually delete the file before processing! With the next version (by now only a beta version is available, see download links below) this wouldn’t necessary any more.

The way to split USD and CAD is brilliant. It'll even capture any other possible future currencies.
And there I though I'd have to somehow tie myself in a knot with if/then's. Just brilliant.

I tried the Quotation marks and had set it to a date filed with the formatting but FH complained. So I assumed that it didnt take the uotation arks out before it tried to do the date conversion.

Now for the bonus question - is it possible to make the "Fee" column into its own line with the same date and name as the main transaction but the Fee going into the Gross column? QBO only allows one $ field on import.
If not I can always just book a bulk fee entry from the statement.

And it works great in the beta without append.

So I tried switching up the numbers on the positive/negative values and while that works in the output file, QBO even on the debit/credit column import entry version will only accept one number per line (and filters the second). So I can't keep it in the same line with gross and fee

It´s a bit trick but possible. I´ve modified the example please have a look to the attachment,

To duplicate lines you have to use the GroupOut Heater . This function needs one parameter, which declare how many lines should copied for each line, in your case 1. This means the original row and one copy.

Now you need a condition to decide which value should used for the first or the second row. In the example I use the AutoID Heater with activated “GroupOut” option. With this option the Heater counts for each includiung the copied record from 1 to 2.

This value now checked with the IF-THEN-ELSE Heater as follows. If 1 then use field “Gross” otherwise use field “Fee”.

I guess this should work for you.
